CHANGES TO PART TWO: POLICIES AND PROCEDURES, DEAC ACCREDITATION HANDBOOK
Effective February 25, 2019, DEAC revised policy language in Section VII. Commission Actions on Initial and Renewal of Accreditation and Section X. Notification and Information Sharing of Part Two of the Accreditation Handbook. The Accrediting Commission enacted the revised procedures in accordance with Section XIX.D.4.of DEAC’s Policies and Procedures which authorizes the Commission, in exigent circumstances, to effect changes to DEAC accreditation standards and procedures without a prior notice and comment period. The Commission believed that the revisions needed to be effected on an immediate basis in order to provide institutions with as much advance notice of the change in procedure as possible.
In addition to these changes, on April 19, 2019 the Accrediting Commission completed a call for comment on other proposed changes to the DEAC Accreditation Handbook in accordance with its procedures set forth in Section XIX.D. Processes and Procedures for Adoption. Some proposed changes are minor editorial revisions or technical and conforming amendments. Other changes are more substantive. Comments were received through Friday, April 19, 2019, and are currently under review by the DEAC Standards Committee and the Board of Directors. Please see DEAC’s Documents Out for Public Comment page to review these proposed changes.
